Pennzoil v. Texaco Collection, 1984-1987.

This collection consists of most of the trial materials of Pennzoil Co. v. Texaco, Inc., case number C#84-05905, heard before Judge Solomon Casseb in the 151st District Court in Harris County, Texas, including transcripts of voir dire, trial proceedings and jury arguments; the court charge, jury questions and verdict; pretrial discovery material consisting of transcripts and videotape of depositions and trial briefs. Access copies on DVD were made of the original video masters in 2008. The original processing of this collection took place in 2005 at which time records indicate that all volumes of trial transcripts were present and accounted for. When processing resumed in 2008 some volumes were found to be missing.

Pennzoil Co., headquartered in Houston, Texas is a large oil producing, refining, and marketing company. Pennzoil traces its origins back to two companies, Zapata Petroleum and South Penn Oil Company. In 1983 Pennzoil signed an agreement with Getty Oil for the purchase of Getty.
